It is your responsibility to follow a few basic steps in the event of an auto accident.  Doing so will ensure that the claims

process is not hindered by lack of information.  Never make a deal for damages or leave the scene of any accident without

 

1)  Move to a safe area such as the shoulder of the road, if possible.

2)  Call the police (911) and seek medical treatment, if necessary.

3)  Remain calm when giving your version of the accident to the police.

4)  Obtain complete information from the other party involved.

5)  Be sure to get the police case # and report.  You will be need to obtain a copy of the actual police 

      report within 5 to 7 days.

6)  Obtain the names, addresses and telephone numbers of any witnesses.

7)  If it is not your vehicle notify the owner of the vehicle immediately so that they can make a report with their carrier.
